Introduction to Middle School at EISB

Dear Middle School Parents,

Welcome to the Middle School program at EISB!

I hope this letter finds you well as we begin the 2023/2024 academic year. As the Head of Middle School, it is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to our program which reflects the unique developmental period that is middle school (MYP 1, MYP 2, and MYP 3).

At EISB, we recognize the importance of having a distinct middle school approach. The approach we take is aligned with the unique developmental period that is middle school, and aims to shape independent and collaborative learners who are equipped to take on the social, emotional, and academic challenges of high school (and beyond).

Students in middle school are starting to develop strong self-identities and often have lots of new energy and strong ideas. Students at this age often prefer to be active in their learning (rather than passive learning) and enjoy learning in fun, dynamic, and personalized ways. We recognize this at EISB and our middle school teachers work together to create student-centered lessons to channel middle school student energy into constructive learning opportunities through activities such as: independent projects of choice, pair/group work, performance arts, class debates, interviews with professionals, individual/group presentations, field trips, and personalized summative projects with real-world connections that are both relevant and meaningful to the student.

As the Head of Middle School, I want to encourage open communication and collaboration and am always available to discuss your child’s progress, aspirations, and any academic, behavioral, or developmental concerns you may have. You are encouraged to reach out to your child’s class teacher as a first point of contact with any questions, concerns, or issues you may have. If you have any questions that are specific to the Middle School program, of if you have any questions, concerns, or issues that you are unable to resolve with your child’s class teacher, then please feel free to contact me at the email address below (or you can message me through EduPage –  whichever you prefer). Working collaboratively, including you as dedicated parents, our team’s objective is to provide your child with the tools they need to thrive academically, to grow personally, and to uncover their talents and full potential.

We look forward to a year filled with exploration, growth, and numerous personal and academic achievements.

Kind regards,

Thomas Beadle, MSc.

Head of Middle School (MYP 1, MYP 2, and MYP 3)
